Denied TymeBank Deposit Because Staff Were “Too Tired” – Pick n Pay Mall of Africa
On 29 December 2025, I attempted to deposit coins into my TymeBank account at Pick n Pay Mall of Africa, an advertised TymeBank deposit partner.
After being redirected from Money Market to the cash office, a staff member refused to assist me and stated that she was tired and that I should come back in the morning when she was not tired. No system issue, policy restriction, or operational reason was provided.
Despite explaining that the coins were already prepared and that I only wanted the funds deposited into my TymeBank account, I was dismissed. After escalating to customer service, only selected coin bags were accepted at staff discretion, without explanation. I was ultimately issued with cash instead of having the money deposited into my account, even though I clearly stated that I wanted a deposit.
As a result, I was denied access to my own bank account through a TymeBank partner location and effectively told to return another day because staff were too tired to assist.
This experience raises serious concerns about TymeBank’s partner oversight and whether customers can rely on advertised deposit services. Denying deposits based on staff fatigue or preference is unacceptable for a basic banking service.
