************* Bank
TymeBank claims they are “Serious about your security” and “Keeping your money safe is our #1 priority”, which is a lot of nonsense, TymeBank is *************, unreliable and cannot be trusted with a person's money.
On Wednesday 24 January 2024 at 12:56 I received a phone call from a person who said that he is from TymeBank's anti ***** section and have noticed that someone is paying R250.00 for Uber services with my card. He asked me if it was me who processed the payment. I informed him that I was not aware of such a transaction. He mentioned that he will assist me to stop this unauthorised transaction from being processed.
He never asked me for my log in details, ie User name, Pass word and Pin, which I would never give to a third party, especially over the phone. Which means they must have been locked into my account before they even phoned me. How could they possibly access my account without my log in details? Where did they get my log in details?
He got his manager to speak to me as well, which informed me that they are doing their best to protect me.
They were very knowledgeable in the TymeBank app and knew exactly what to do and how to do it.
12:56 – I received the initial telephone call
While talking to him, I received the following SMS messages:
13:05 – That my account was permanently blocked 13:05 – A Samsung locked into my account 13:08 – OTP for a R2,500.00 (incl R3.00 fee) payment to be made (the time lapsed on this SMS) 13:11 – OTP for a R2,500.00 (incl R3.00 fee) payment to be made 13:14 – OTP to SendMoney for R4,590.00 13:25 – An amount of R490.00 was sent to my SendMoney group 13:44 – A total of R4,528.00 was sent to my SendMoney group
While I was talking to them over the phone, I tried to access my account via my TymeBank app but could not access my account because it was already blocked.
All the time while they were busy transferring and withdrawing money from my account he was telling me exactly what they were doing and making out that it was someone else that was doing these transactions and that I must give him the OPTs for these transactions in order for him to stop these *****ulent transactions from being processed. I was aware of the fact that I must not share any OTPs over the phone with third parties, but TymeBank is a digital bank and does not have branches and all activities gets done via telephone.
The call was terminated and I phoned them and a lady answered as TymeBank.
When I checked my emails Wednesday evening, I received the following emails:
13:06 – My device (iOS 15.7.6) was delinked 13:06 – My account was logged into with a Samsung SM-A135F – 13 13:20 – My MoreTime was activated
They had all the money from my GoalSave Savings Account paid out to my EveryDay account. More than R7,000.00 in total was sent from my account to a cell phone.
I contacted TymeBank and reported my case to them. Before I could finish explaining to the lady what happened, she said that I won't get my money back and that she will lodge a complaint and TymeBank will get back to me by 5 February 2024 (that's two weeks). The lady asked me to hold while she speaks to her supervisor, which took for ever, she came back and again asked me to hold because she couldn't find her supervisor. After another “marathon” she came back and said she can't find her supervisor. I then received an SMS from TymeBank stating that my case is under investigation and that I will be provided with feedback within five working days. On Friday 26 January 2024 I received a SMS stating “It looks like access to your account is still blocked, but you can unblock it securely online. Open you app & follow the prompts on-screen”. How can I access my account in the app if my phone has been delinked and my account permanently blocked?
It's obvious TymeBank doesn't know what they are doing and their employees are totally *********** in dealing with *****ulent cases. If customer account safety is their #1 priority, I would hate to see their last priority.
I would still like to know, how did they access my account and where did they get my log in details?
