Dyson Airwrap- Not worth the pricetag!
On 18 December 2022, I purchased a Dyson Airwrap for R9,350. However, just six months later, it began malfunctioning by switching off randomly during use, and the hair would no longer wrap around the airwrap pieces. I visited the store where I purchased it and was advised to take it to the Johannesburg branch, which I did. The technician informed me that the filter needed cleaning, which I did diligently from that point forward.
Despite my efforts, the device is now, just under two years later, experiencing the same issue—switching off randomly, sometimes after just one minute of use. Given the premium price of this product, I find it unacceptable that it has not even lasted two years without recurring issues.
I initially reached out to Dyson South Africa on 23 December 2024, only to receive an automated response that their offices were closed until 6 January 2025. Upon following up on 22 January 2025, I was simply redirected to Austin in the Johannesburg office, without any real resolution. After another two weeks of no assistance, I followed up again on 6 February 2025, demanding action. I was then told my complaint had been forwarded to a receptionist, Lebo, to arrange collection. To date, I have not received any further correspondence or assistance, and my emails are being ignored or merely passed along without resolution.
This is entirely unacceptable for a brand that prides itself on quality and customer service. I have been left with a defective R10,000 hair tool that is completely useless, and Dyson South Africa has failed to provide any meaningful support.
I demand immediate action: Dyson must collect my defective unit, repair or replace it, and provide proper customer support. If no resolution is provided within a reasonable timeframe, I will be forced to escalate this matter further through the appropriate consumer protection channels.
I urge Dyson South Africa to rectify this matter urgently.
