Don't by any Leica products in South Africa!

<p>I have been using my Leica binoculars for 14 years. When I had bought it for R14,000.00 then, I was told that it had a lifelong guarantee. In October 2015 I noticed that it did not want to focus and saw that there was a crack in the plastic tube of the one eye piece, and because it slid inward, it prevented it from focusing. The lenses are still perfect, and not wanting to use glue on such a special instrument, I took it to Outdoorphoto who sent it to Tudortech. Tudortech said they could not fix it and sent it to Europe. After months, I was told that the binoculars had had a "high impact fall" and therefore could not be fixed for free, but that it will cost me R14,000.00 to fix the plastic tube! I know that it has not had an "high impact fall"! I had the binoculars sent back and now, more that seven months later I got my binoculars back, the plastic tube still with the crack in and the eye piece having been forced out and not properly put back. It has cost me R350.00 plus R1,026.00 to receive my Leica binoculars back, and now I will glue it and use it, but will definitely let my birding friends know about my experience!</p>
