Yearly fee and Customer Service

In July I made a purchase of R220! End of July I made a payment of R35 which I estimated should be the instalment more or less since I haven't received a statement yet and would pay in the difference if any once the statement arrived! Today I received an SMS from Truworths stating that my account in now overdue by R71! I could not figure out how this is possible so I phoned Truworths! The first man I spoke to put the phone down in my ear when I started getting upset because he cannot explain to me why this is overdue! So I phoned again just to be informed that since I made a payment in July then the overdue balance is still R41 and this isn't possible since R220 divided by 6 is not what they are telling me! Then I asked what my instalment is supposed to be and she said R36! So how can I owe R71! When I finally lost my cool again and asked for a statement I was put on hold-till forever! I finally after a long struggle got my statement from the internet. There is a R26 yearly fee added to my account. So I phoned again asking why I wasn't informed of this and since when does this need to be paid! I am unhappy about the whole experience! I'm closing my account today!

Hello Jinxy,

Thank you for your post

The Annual Service Fee (ASF) was implemented in October 2007 as a compulsory fee for all accounts opened thereafter. As your account was opened in 2003, this fee is not compulsory.

We acknowledge your frustration regarding the manner in which your query was handled and have therefore escalated it to the relevant mangers to address.

We have attempted to contact you in this regard, but were regretfully unsuccessful in our attempts. We would like to note that the ASF will not be charged to your account going forward.

Thank you for the opportunity to clarify and assist you with this matter.

Should you have any further concerns or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us, on *** or via email on ***.

Kind regards,

Lynn
