Wronged by Truworths staff

<p>I was given a Truworths gift card by my mum for R500 as a birthday present. My mum does not earn alot of money and gave me the gift card as I will never take cash from her.</p> <p>I went to Truworths in Sandton City, and I was going to purchase some clothes to use the card. I really needed a suit but it was more than the amount on the gift card. I had asked a staff member to check the balance, and he told me it was R 500, and asked me what I wanted to get. I mentioned to him I really needed a suit but I could not afford one right now and I was just getting a few shirts. The staff member then informed me, that the gift cards do not expire and I should save anymore gift cards that I receive and use them together to buy a suit. I thought that it was a good idea and I left without using the card, as I did not need the shirts at the time.</p> <p> </p> <p>So when I had another gift card I went to use it at another mall. However the staff informed me that the card had expired and I cannot use it. I had mentioned to them, about the staff member telling me that the card does not expire but they said that they could not help. </p> <p> </p> <p>I then went to the Sandton City branch, and the manager Lebo tried to help but checking with the head office. However, when I mentioned to them the reason why I did not use the card , is because their staff member told me that the card does not expire. They continued to tell me that the their staff is well trained and they will never say that. I also mentioned, that when I came in on that day I intended to use the card, but I did not, because of what the staff had told me. Now, I was upset hearing this, as it was not my fault for not using the card, as I was mis-informed. </p> <p>Lebo then put me through to the area manager, Aubrey Miller, who was the rudest peron I have spoken to. He just continued to say that it was my fault, and what do I expect him to do. He also reiterated that the staff are well trained and they will never mis-inform me about the card.</p> <p> </p> <p>I have been really digusted by the way that Truworths has handled the matter, not once did they ever believe me and continued to ask me why did I wait to use the card, after I repeatedly told them why. I cannot believe how the area manager spoke to me, not once saying sorry for the misunderstanding, or try to assist.</p> <p> </p> <p>I still have two more Truworths gift cards with me, which I received as gifts, but I will never again want to go to their store to use them. I feel that my mum has just wasted her hard earned money, and she does not even earn alot, but she wanted to do something nice for me for all the help that I have given her.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
