Worst Shopping Experience Ever

I was pretty sure that Truworths took pride in their customer service and professionalism and that was not evident during my visit to the store in the Ballito mall. It was absolutely shocking to have experienced what we did and it infuriates me even more in the manner that my wife was treated.

Upon entering the store we was not greeted, neither where we asked if we needed assistance. My wife had to go to the consultant and ask her for assistance and even then she was no help. My wife was asking her questions and for help regarding products in the store and the consultant either ignored my wife or showed no interest at all. My wife had to test products for herself and the consultant still didn't bother and was more concerned about having a conversation with the other consultant present. The consultant seemed to know nothing about the products in store and didn't care at all. My wife asked her for a shade of foundation and she said it doesn't exist yet when we checked at another store they had it and what was even more annoying that my wife had to help herself and every time she found something she liked the consultant without even checking said that there was no stock. Besides this terrible service we got, the way the consultant was making my wife feel was unacceptable. She was making my wife feel uncomfortable and unwanted in the store and as if she had did something wrong and it just spoiled her mood and made her very upset. The consultant offered us nothing, no advice or alternatives and I was also interested in getting a cologne and I was also not attended to yet there where two consultants in the store and we where the only two customers present.

We also picked up another abnormality once we reached home. We had previously visited the store prior to this to purchase Estee Lauder double wear foundation. The same consultant was present but my wife knew what she wanted and explained that to her. The consultant said she knew what my wife was talking about, took a Estee lauder powder out scanned it out and we paid and left. Since she was a consultant we trusted that she knew what she was doing and with not get it wrong. My wife gets home and decides to test out the foundation but it just wasn't looking right and upon checking the packaging we realise that the consultant had given us the wrong item on purpose after clearly explaining what we wanted. Estee lauder is not cheap and I have a product now that my wife can't use and that's due to the consultant, my wife could of had an allergic reaction to the product and then who would of been accountable for that?

I have been a loyal customer for 13 years and I never thought I would be encountering such a situation as I was always under the impression that Truworths had a certain standard but after this experience I guess I was wrong. To have a consultant in store that seems to have little or no training when it comes to customer service and consultancy is absolutely absurd. She wasted our time ,offered no help at all, was clueless about products and disrespected my wife.

This is a serious matter to me and I want it to be looked at and sorted out, the least that needs to be done is an apology to my wife and for her to get the right product and the relevant people to be disciplined.
