Truworths *****s money from their customers
A few months ago, I returned an item back to Truworths. The lady at Truworths said she cannot give me a voucher, but she will give me a credit note and a credit note functions the same as a voucher. Generally vouchers are valid for 36 months. Yesterday, when I wanted to use my credit note for a purchase at Truworths, a very unfriendly obnoxious counter person told me in no uncertain terms that they cannot help me and that a credit note is only valid for 3 months, not 3 years. If the lady at the original store would have told me that the credit note is only valid for 3 months, I would have made a purchase sooner. Now I am out of pocket R350. I do not feel this is right. I feel that Truworths has ****** this money from me.

Credit notes are generally given where a customer has not fulfilled all of the criteria with a return but we see the merit in offering an opportunity as a once off to allow the customer to re -choose merchandise for the same value. These are known as credit notes and have 3 month validity.
Gift cards when being purchased however have a 36 month expiry as stipulated by the Nation Consumer Protection Act (NCA). Following our email correspondence we established that the credit note was issued to you in March 2014. Credit notes are only valid for three months from the original date of issue which is clearly stated at the bottom of the credit note docket.
We apologise for any misunderstanding that may have occurred which lead you to believe that the credit note was valid for three years.
