Truworths statement confusing

How does a customer with an outstanding balance of about R2200 get charged R480 installment?? And then when asking all they can say is "installments are calculated based on your highest balance over the period you have chosen 12months" can someone explain that? How does R2200+interest over 12 months come down to R480 per month???

Thank you for your post and allowing us the opportunity to respond.
We wish to verify that you were correctly informed that your installment is calculated on the highest balance owing on your account as agreed upon in our Terms and Conditions of Sale and Granting of Credit.
We can confirm that we have contacted you and explained that your installment was calculated on your balance owing as of July 2015 and was thus correctly calculated for the installment of R480.00 for twelve months.
We are pleased that we were able to clarify this matter for you and encourage you to contact us should you have any further enquiries, either via email on *** or on ***.
