Truworths: poor customer service; *********** accounts & billing department; no due diligence.

I requested a settlement letter from Truworths for the full balance of my account on 19 September 2017 and I specifically stated in my email that I intend closing my Truworths account once the account is settled. I received the settlement letter on 21 September 2017 and on 09 October 2017 I made a payment for the full and exact amount reflected on the settlement letter. Proof of payment was emailed to Truworths ********** and ********** on the same day. Subsequent to this I requested confirmation of payment and for Truworths to close my account with immediate effect. Ms Miche Mourats responded with a letter on 13 October 2017 stating that my account was up to date with payment however reflecting a balance of R366.46. I disputed this on 18 October 2017 and had to lodge another complaint on 30 October 2017 because my query had not yet been addressed. On 02 November 2017 I sent another follow-up mail asking for my query to be addressed, to no avail.

I find it extremely ironic and unprofessional how Truworths call centre can literally harass a client with telephone calls in excess of 10 times a day when the client is behind on a payment, but as soon as the roles are reversed and the client asks for something from Truworths in return, they cannot display due diligence and respond or address queries as required. When I lodged this complaint via email I got told, quote, "We apologize for the manner in which you felt your query had been dealt with and this matter will be addressed." Between 27 September 2017 and 02 November 2017 I've received correspondence from various Consultants at Truworths - namely Ms Pamela Petersen, "Aashiqah", "Robin", "Tania", and Ms Aimee Sampson and not one of them have been able to resolve my query.

In short - R366.46 is a very small amount to pay and I do not mind paying this amount so that I can close my Truworths account, but Truworths must be able to substantiate this number because it was not reflected on the settlement letter and payment was made to their account before next statement run therefore interest charges do not apply. Should Truworths not be able to substantiate this number, they should waive the R366.46 and confirm accordingly in writing, following which I will request that my account be closed with immediate effect.

Thank you for your post.

We acknowledge your frustration regarding the concerns raised, and the manner in which the matter has been dealt with thus far.

According to our records, the amount noted in the settlement letter was paid via EFT on the day that our previous billing cycle closed, and did not reflected on the account immediately, as EFT payment takes 3- 4 days to reflect.

We do believe that one of our agents has informed you about the reason why R366.46 was still outstanding on your account, and we would like to thank you for settling the account balance owing.

We regret your decision to close your account with us as your patronage is important to us. We however confirm that your account has been closed and that a letter confirming this will be sent to you systematically.

Should you have any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us on *** or via email on ***

Kind regards,

Truworths Online Team
