Truworths do credit checks for lay byes is a NO NO
I was completely stunned when i wanted to make a lay bye by Truworths to find they do a credit check for a lay bye. It does not make sense. They are the only retailers that offers lay byes and do a credit check. Do they know when doing a credit check can affect your scoring which can be negative on your credit profile. What shop does that? It's not that you want to open an account, you want to lay bye meaning the goods remain in the posession of the retailer until goods are fully paid, so why the credit check? Truworths really needs to relook their lay bye requirements or just not offer them to consumers. A lot of consumers are not even aware what numerous checks can do to your credit scoring.

Thank you for your response, however then not all staff are well informed to communicate such with clients. I went to N1 City Mall and I was just told that you do a credit check to check affordibility. There is clearly no transparency throughout your branches. Nevertheless, doing credit checks does impact your credit score, yet it is for a lay bye and not to open an account. Maybe you will need to re evaluate your lay bye terms and conditions, or just cancel the credit check because as I said the items remains your property until such time the goods are paid in full, therefore don't see the need even for a credit check. In addition, 10% deposit or whichever amount should not be that difficult to calculate from any retail price?
