Truworth's Current 50% Off Sale Is A Bait Marketing Strategy, absolute mockery of the CPA section 30.

Truworth's participate in bait marketing strategy with absolutely no intervention whatsoever from the A.S.A, CGSO or NCC the rule as set out in the CPA section 30 clearly prohibits TRUWORTHS from participating in a strategy of this nature . Have a look at their current bait marketing strategy with their so called "50% OFF SALE" the point of sale font on the 50% off in their entrance and throughout the store is "Bill Board Sized", but if like me you wear a pair of spectacles the "UP TO" font is so tiny that it is not visible to a person with 20/20 vision. My issue here is that I purchased two product of the "50% OFF" rail only to find that this is a "CON" a repeated bait marketing strategy to ******* THE SOUTH AFRICAN CONSUMER. Both items were marked for (R 875 & R 499 respectively) but I ended up paying (R 650 & R 370) (25.71% & 25.85% OFF). Clearly this is a mockery of the CPA and an infringement on my rights, once you query this bait marketing strategy and ask to speak to the manager - the manager is not on duty then you get the rude 2IC that sends a message with the cashier to tell you that there is nothing that can be done and that I must chat to head office (too busy to chat to a consumer), I requested the regional managers contact number and was told that staff in the store are prohibited from giving the regional s number and that I must call head office during working hours from Monday to Friday (Kimberley 2IC Truworths chats-worth sent this message with cashier). The service that one receives from this store on a peak month end trade is horrific, there is 3 cashiers on duty but only 1 cashier takes cash whilst the other 2 are busy chatting with each other and laughing at consumers in the massive que.

Thank you for your post and allowing us the opportunity to respond.

We confirm that all in store signage, as well customer communication pertaining to the recent sale, clearly stated “up to 50% off the original price”.

We have investigated your concerns raised and liaised with Management of the store in question, as well as with their respective Area Manager.

We were informed that on the day of your visit to the store, when the mentioned items were taken to the cash desk, you were informed that the selling price at the time were correct.

We confirm that the Area Manager has been in contact with you to discuss the matter further, and to explain to you how the recent sale was marketed.

We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention and apologise for any upset that may have been caused. We do however hope that you will be able to accept our stance in this regard.

Kind regards,

Truworths Online Team
