TRUWORTHS CANAL WALK

Now is as good a time to tell you the story about TRUWORTHS CANAL WALK, CAPE TOWN. I went there more than a week ago to buy a cellphone advertised for R3300, in the store, and confirmed the price by the sales assistant on duty. We were THREE customers wanting to buy the same cellphone, and we were even offered a drinking cup as a gift, because we bought that specific phone. On wanting to make payment for the phone, I was told that the cellphone is now no longer R3300, but instead the price had immediately risen to R4000. On wanting to see the store manager, I was told that she was having lunch, and that I had to wait until she returned from lunch. I waited - for TWO AND A HALF HOURS for her to return from lunch. One of the other customers waited with me, while the third one left the store. After waiting for TWO AND A HALF HOURS, and with the floor manager also being away for more than TWO AND A HALF HOURS, the store manager informed me that she will make a request to the area manager, for them to sell the phone to us for the advertised price. After waiting for days for the AREA MANAGER to respond, he promptly gave me a false number on which I could call him, should I need more help. Needles to say, I couldn't get hold of the AREA MANAGER again. I had to ask someone else to trace him in the company, and find his real cell number. He was so abrupt when he heard that I located him, and didn't allow me to say anything. He said that a staff member from the company would contact me. When the person phoned, she refused to identify herself, but offered a bribe instead. If I accepted a R100 gift voucher, and drop all enquiries, u could buy the phone for R4000. I bluntly refused and told her to stuff the R100 gift voucher. In the meantime, I continued to call the Customer Care Line, to insist that they sell the phone for the advertised price. I was then told by the consultant that I would receive a call from the store manager who would make an offer for the.phone for the advertised price. Needless to say, she never called. When I made enquiries to her on the store phone, she promptly told me that it was not her duty to call customers. I couldn't raise the complaint earlier, because I had to wait until I had a new phone. I purchased a new phone from Game, N1 City. Up to this day, according to the store manager, the company is bluntly refusing to sell the phone for the advertised price. The AREA MANAGER, THE STORE MANAGER, THE CUSTOMER CARE CONSULTANT, AS WELL AS THE REGIONAL MANAGER, all agreed that it was a mistake on their part, to advertise the phone for the said price, but insist that they have the right to raise the price of the phone while the sale is in progress. I am so disappointed in TRUWORTHS, that I am now considering closing my account for good. Sis, TRUWORTHS, I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH BAD SERVICE.

I'm still wondering if the company reprimanded the store manager for taking a TWO AND A HALF HOUR lunch break, and more a missing-in-action floor manager.

I'm still in contact with the other customers and would gladly get you to confirm that this entire episode actually played itself off in TRUWORTHS.
