Sending pre-approved credit account with limit

On a number of occasions my wife and I have received letters in the post telling us we have been selected and pre-approved along with a limit decided upon by Truworths. They send an account card as well. I don't want a Truworths account!!! It is not my store of choice when I buy clothing and it is ******* to conduct business in this regard especially with the new credit act. They need to desist from sending this type of correspondence and in the mail of all channels. Someone could de***** and run up bad credit against my name and if that should be the case I WILL PURSUE A CIVIL SUIT.

Hello Henry A75,

Thank you for your post and allowing us the opportunity to clarify your concerns.

At Truworths, we believe that we conduct our advertising and direct marketing in compliance with applicable legislation, including without limitation the provisions of the National Credit Act (NCA) and the Consumer Protection Act (CPA).

As part of our ongoing strategy to identify people who we feel would see value in a Truworths account offer, we have obtained the information from a reputable company, PCube, specialising in this regard.

The account offer that was sent to the recipient was by no means intended to cause any frustration, and we can assure you that we adhere strictly to the requirements stipulated by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA). All contact details linked to this offer have subsequently been removed from our database as per your request, and you should no longer receive any further communication from Truworths in this regard.

We trust that we have sufficiently addressed your concerns. Should you have any other queries or suggestions, please feel free to contact us directly on *** or send an e-mail to ***.

Kind regards,

Lynn
