SECURITY GUARD SEARCHES 5 YEAR OLD

I visited Truworths Cresta on the 24th March. I was literally in the store for less than 5 minutes and the security guard in the store could see my every move. I had my two sons with me and when we stepped out the store the metal detector by the door started beeping. The security shouted for us to come back to the store which we did and he made us work through the detector again. The detector beeped when my 5 year old walked through. The security puleld him aside, raised his arms and started searching him like a ********. My son was traumitised and started crying. He found nothing on my son. I shouted at the security guard to leave my son alone and asked for his name . He started swearing and said I must go to the manager and ask for his name. He became confrontational and wanted to physically fight with me. My sons were in shock and shaken up so I left the store.

Hello dpan,

Thank you for your post and alerting us to this incident. At Truworths we view issues of misconduct in a very serious light and were concerned to read of your experience.

Whilst we acknowledge that all security guards are employed by an independent contractor to Truworths, they are mandated to uphold the international service standard which we expect from all staff as well as our affiliates.

We therefore immediately escalated this matter to the relevant Store and Area Managers. We were informed that they are unaware of the incident that occurred but will conduct a thorough investigation and bring your complaint to the attention of management at the security company to have the necessary corrective action taken.

We once again wish to apologize to you and your children for the incident and for any inconvenience or upset caused as a result of it. We would like to however re-assure you that this matter will be addressed in earnest.

Yours sincerely,

Lynn
