As per the consumer protection act,I was denied my consumer right to be heard and then obtain redress at that particular time instore.The employee arbitrarily and capriously refused to escalate my simple instore complaint to the area manager for timeous/speedy resolution by refusing to make a reasonable store phone call to the area manager.The employee frustrated me and the consumer protection act section 4(5) alludes to a person MUST NOT engage in any conduct contrary to, or calculated to frustrate or defeat the purposes and policy of the CPA.The employee's conduct is alleged to be shocking and unconscionable and allegedly in violation of the aforesaid law and by extension Truworths is allegedly complicit in the employees action or ommission to act by not giving the employee proper and sound training with reference to the consumer protection act as the employee stated it is truworths policy to submit all complaints in email format,which I find excessively one sided and unreasonable and ********* as many previously disadvantaged persons have challenges in accessing internet connectivity and affordability of data bundles to use email. The CPA exists to promote a fair marketplace and for that purpose has established national norms and standards relating to consumer protection and to prohibit certain unfair business practices. The CPA alludes to apartheid and discriminatory laws of the past have burdened the nation and that it is necessary to develop and employ innovative means to fulfil the rights of historically disadvantaged persons and to promote their full participation as consumers. and thereby protect the interests of all consumers and ensure accessible,transparent and efficient redress. Surely a phone call from the store to the area manager is a reasonable request and should have been granted in my opinion.Furthermore this rude and unprofessional conduct is unacceptable to me in a democratic society and the employee must be held accountable and some form of disciplinary action be meted out as consequence management.
