Returns Policy Unreasonable

My experience at Truworths yesterday reminded me why I never shop there.<br> My mother in law bought my son a tracksuit top from Truworths on 09/04/2016. When he tried it on after receiving it on the 10/04/2016, I found it too small. So I dutifully went to the store on 11/04/2016 to exchange it for a bigger one. The tag was still in place as my son had only tried it on.<br> I was told the exchange could not be done without a receipt. I told the cashier that I did not have a receipt as it was a gift. I was then asked if the item was purchased for cash or on account. Am I to assume that each gift my child receives from Truworths going forward, I must inquire if the item was bought on cash or account?<br> Do you know that there are some people who do not care to keep slips and don't think of giving them with when giving a gift? I don't see why the item cannot be replaced for the same item in another size when the tag is still on the item?<br> What do you do with people who need to exchange something and have no way of getting the receipt? Do you happily take the money knowing the person cannot make use of the item because it is the wrong size?<br> I will never set foot into a Truworths again.

Hello carey.solans,

Thank you for your post and allowing us the opportunity to respond.

Whilst we acknowledge your frustration in this regard, we can confirm that you were correctly informed that a return could not be authorized without the required proof of purchase or gift receipt.

The gift receipt needs to be requested at the time of purchase in order to facilitate an easy return for the recipient. This being said, from time-to-time, stores may request additional information pertaining to the purchase in order to aid the gift recipient in locating the proof of purchase.

We confirm that we have been in contact with you in this regard and you informed us that you were able to return the garment in the interim as the gift purchaser was in the mall on the day. We understand that you are not happy with our policy we however hope that you will be able to perceive and accept out stance in this regard.

Please feel free to contact us on *** or via email on *** and we will gladly assist.
