refusing ID saying its damaged (edge of ID a bit yellowed)

Opened an account online and was granted one.Went to Truworths Woodlands Boulavard to collect account card,with ID only to be told the ID is too damaged (the page is a little yellowed)Now have to get a new ID just to get a bldy account card.And no cannot buy online as need the account card.so i guess by the time i get ID my free vouchers are useless.Why was my ID not accepted?Its good enough for everything else accept their sales people
