Refused entry into store
Today the 24 of December 2020 I was refused entry into the Kwadukuza mall Truworths store for not using the sanitizer provided at the door although I had my own bottle of sanitizer.
The bottle at the door was been touched by all customers coming in which is not ideal with regards to this virus and how it spreads. Also the bottle was clear with a clear liquid inside that was not identified.
This is the first store I came across with such a rule.
There was also no signage to state that upon entry of the store you are required to use the stores specific sanitizer and not your own.

We acknowledge your frustration and immediately escalated your concerns to the relevant Executive Management and COVID compliance team.
We wish to advise that the strict protocols implemented by Truworths are in accordance with all the relevant legislation and guidelines as issued by Government. The Regulations and Directions require us to provide hand sanitizer with a 70% alcohol content for the use of customers and staff entering our stores. As we are unable to ensure that a customer’s sanitizer meets this requirement, we, therefore, require all customers to use our in-store sanitizers as we have the relevant documentation from our approved suppliers which confirms that it meets such requirements.
Truworths has ensured its strict adherence to these requirements as well as implementing extensive protocols which ensure the safety of both our customers and staff when in our stores. We, therefore, confirm that you were correctly advised the day of your visit. We do however wish to apologize for the manner in which you felt the Management attended to you on the day and hope that on your next visit we can meet or exceed your expectations.
