POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
I received a gift from my sister on 10 nov 22, that was purchased from truworths. I needed to change it for a size smaller as the cut was a bit big. I went on 13 nov to the Rosebank mall to exchange the dress but they did not stock the range and referred me to the Cresta and Sandton branches. I left work early on 14 Nov to go to Cresta and found the size I required. They would not exchange the dress as I apparently needed a gift receipt. Also, as it was purchased on account, they advised that they now needed a letter from the account holder to authorise them going into and checking the account. All this for a simple exchange of the exact same dress, just in a different size. This meant I would need to take more time to return to Truworths, once they've verified everything. What is the issue, its a simple transaction reversing the size 34 and purchasing the size 32. Even the manager wouldn't authorise the exchange. Last year I had a similar experience with The Big Blue, where I needed to exchange a gift due to the size being incorrect. I took it back 3 weeks after I received the gift and found that the only stock available in my size, was in Shelley beach KZN. The Sales person advised that they could courier it from KZN to JHB and I could collect it within a week. They didn't fuss that I had returned after 3 weeks, they didn't charge for the courier costs, and no gift or any other receipt was required. Within a week they contacted me to say my dress had arrived. This is a company that obviously cares about their customers. I've asked my sister to return the dress and not exchange or replace it with anything else from Truworths. I've also advised my friends of my experience and asked them not to purchase anything from Truworths for me. Not to mention that their clothes are overpriced. This simple plain "cotton" dress cost R1000.
