Poor Credit Control Procedures

Truworths has the worst collections process amongst all the major retailers. I had not paid my account for the first time due to beong off sick for the first time at the beginning of February 2017. I got a nasty letter today demanding the overdue installment and the installment for the following month immediately, whilst threatening legal procedings! There wasn't a reminder letter or phonecall before this letter was sent. And I as mentioned non payment on my account has not been a repetitive occurence!

Futhermore I found out that Truworths works out your installment on your highest balance??? It does not matter that one has paid up even 75% of the account the installment remains the same. How does this help a consumer manage repayments?

This credit control procedure in my opionion is unacceptable!!!!

Thank you for your post and affording us the opportunity to respond.

We have reviewed your account and established that it went into arrears after no payment was received for the installment due 03 February 2017.

Whilst we acknowledge your frustration regarding the arrears communication sent, we do not intend to offend or aggravate our customers when sending the correspondence. These are sent as a reminder on the status of the account and gives the opportunity for a payment arrangement to be made in instances where a customer may be unable to meet their payment commitments.

We can verify that attempts were made by our collections consultants, to contact you for an arrangement however these attempts were regrettably unsuccessful.

We further wish to verify that the installments due for all account holders is calculated on the high balance for the account, over the payment period selected by the customer, as agreed upon in our Credit Agreement.

We kindly urge you to contact us on *** or via email to *** should you wish to make a payment arrangement. We trust that we were able to clarify your concerns with our response and wish a speedy recovery.

Kindest regards,

Truworths Online Team
