Pathetic service and ******** staff at Truworths at the Garden Route Mall George

My wife went to return two items at mentioned store on 11 November 2016 approx 14H00. She was told by the cashier that the pants could not be returned since it looked liked it has been worn. Two more cashiers were called and a converastion was held between the cashiers wether they should return the pants or not. (Which was very unproffesional and disrespectfull) My wife ackowledge that the pants looked liked it was worn but definetly not by her. The price tags were still on. She was in hurry when she bought it, only fit it at home and placed it back in the bag. Upon further inspection of the pants they saw a small tear . She mentioned that even if she wore the pants (which she didn't ) a pants bought at Truworths with the value of R575 shouldn't just tear. She requested that the item should be returned as faulty. The cashier that initially assisted her when she bought the clothes were called, she said she could not remember if the pants had a tear or not. That's when one of the cashiers, Leandra started cross questioning her. Repeatedly saying: So you did wear the pants' She tried to explain that she never wore the pants, but Leandra kept on interupting talking in such a tone that every body in the long queue behind her could hear the conversation. She stated that my wife should read the labels. My wife requested somebody in management for assistance but was advised that the Area manager will only be available from the 23rd.

Honestly this is totally unacceptable for a shop of this calibre. She returned to the store to get management details, but struggeld to be acknowledged by the the cashier (which didn't know the managers name! )A piece of paper was handed to her like a child. In no way should any loyal customer be treated in this way, be repremanded and embarresed infront of other customers. Please get back to us as I certainly will not stand for bad customer service nor ******** staff that brings down the image of a reputable store...to wait for a manager to return after two weeks..pathetic

Thank you for your post.

We acknowledge that one of the requirements for any merchandise returned to our stores is that the item needs to be in its original condition when purchased, accept in the instances where an item may present a manufacturing fault.

This being said, with each and every interaction with our customers, our staff should always address customers in a respectful and appropriate manner.

Whilst the Area Manager of the store is indeed unavailable, we escalated this matter to the Area Manager currently overseeing the store.

We believe that she has contacted you to discuss your concerns and apologized for the way in which your wife was assisted. She has further addressed your concerns with the manager of the store and was able to successfully resolve this matter for you.

We once again sincerely apologize for your experience and hope to see you in our stores again soon.

Yours sincerely,

Truworths Online Team
