Pathetic Customer Service and complete lack of technical knowledge
I recently went into Newcastle branch on Sunday 13 December 2020 to purchase a new mobile device. The consultant who assisted only asked if i was paying cash or account, during which i also required to do exchange a few items, however i was told to conclude the sale of the device first. The consultant failed to offer any advice on the device or make the relevant queries in respect to having the ability to use GMS.
After getting home and releasing the device is completely barred from utlitising GMS, i returned to the store the following morning, after a wait and spending time explaining the reasons for the GMS requirement, i was told to download Findora which is a 3rd party application store. The Huawei representative for the area was present and after explaining the issue to her she advised the device would not work. This was further escalated within Huawei technical and the MTN representative. I was asked to leave my details and i will be contacted by the store manager who was supposed to have escalated the issue. On 15 December 2020 i receive a call from customer services and the ***** on the other end tells me i need to get a bigger memory card, the ***** who call was escalated to tells me to download an APK, point of note .... if the APK is installed on the device the devices is rendered unstable. (Both the MTN and Huawei representative queried if i was given any advice in respect to the device being unable to support GMS, to which even in store it was admitted this was not done.)
I am still waiting for the the store manager to call me and offer a solution as customer services advised that the it is now up the store manager to change the device or not.
Maybe truworths should stick to selling clothes because the competence and technical knowledge of their consultants is disgraceful.
Further to this the staff should be made aware of the Consumer protection act
The only advise the sales consultant offered was not to use the R200 gift voucher issued within the 7 days period in the event i am not happy with the device and it is returned.
Based on the attitude currently it seems like this matter will be drawn beyond the 7 day mark and then i will be kindly told "**** off" for the lack of a better expression.
right now i am sitting with an expensive camera that can make calls and serve the purpose of a calculator, as the device is unable to meet any of my other requirements.
