Out of stock issue unacceptable

I tried to order 3 tops online but it says out of stock check in stores. If there is stock in the stores why can't I order the items and have them delivered to my closest store. This doesn't mean the item is out of stock, it means the warehouse/distribution centre does not have stock. Why inconvenience the customer. Can't the items be couriered from the jhb or cpt branches to Durban. Unacceptable to say out of stock.
