No returns policy for defective/incorrectly made clothing from Earthchild?

I purchased clothing for my son 1 year ago at the 75% sale at Earthchild. He was then 1 month old and the clothing I bought was age 12 to 18 months. When his age/size came about (1 year later), I tried to fit a jacket onto my son, but the cuffs were so small that his hands could not pass through them. I subsequently returned the item to Earthchild Watercrest Mall whereby I was told that Truworths Durban refused to help me on account of the item being purchased so long ago. I stated that the item was defective due to the cuffs being too small, but I was still not helped at all. I spend a considerable amount of money at Earthchild as I consider their products to be extremely well made and comfortable for my child. However, this situation has left me bewildered as to the intent of the Truworths management due to their blatant disregard of a manufacturing fault. I would've been happy if they had repaired/corrected the problem and returned the item, instead, there was a blanket "No, we cannot help you." Would you prefer I shop elsewhere for both my child and family?
