Limit increase

I opened a truworth account a year back and only requested for a 1500, which is what I was informed that I could qualify for as per my affordability. I kept on paying the account in advance to keep a positive balance, and I never gave them any permission to increase my limit without me knowing neither did they ever inform me. Until the other day I found out that my account had a balance of 7500 plus or minus.

Now my question is, the first time when I app**** for the account, they did a credit check with my statement and payslip, shouldn't they do a credit check and affordability check?

Thank you for your post and allowing us the opportunity to clarify this matter for you.

We have reviewed your account and established that when the account was opened it was listed for an automatic increase, which increases over a time period. We are obligated to ensure that we remain compliant with the requirements of the National Credit Act (NCA); therefore a affordability was done when the account was opened initially.

We have attempted to contact you to discuss this matter but were regretfully unable to reach you on the number provided. We have subsequently sent you an email in this regard and trust that we will be able to resolve or further clarify this matter for you upon receipt of your response.

Kind regards,

Truworths Online Team
