Instore phishing **** to make cash purchase

When shopping at liberty Midlands mall in pietermaritzburg I want to buy some items of clothing from you Uzzi store , when I got to you cash desk they would not sell to me without me providing them with a whole lot of private and confidential information, Name, address, I'd number contact details ect, I was paying in hard cash and feel this is unacceptable! Basically a phishing **** surely to make a simple purchase in cash you do not require this information date of incident Sunday 11/10/20 @ around 14:00 - please advise as it seems either your staff are involved in some sort of ***** or the truworths group are
