*****/ Identity Theft

Someone has opened a Truworths account in my aunt’s name. She’s never had an account with them, and yet, they’re chasing her for payments. The account was apparently opened in the Eastern Cape and my aunt has never been there. She filed a dispute with Truworths and opened a ***** case with the police. However, despite this, she’s been getting calls from Truworths demanding payment. The situation got worse when a representative told her she still needs to pay — even though it’s *****! We have a recording of the conversation where Truworths’ representative insists she must pay, despite her explaining it’s an ongoing ***** case. This is beyond frustrating. The company is not taking this seriously. My aunt went to the police to file an affidavit confirming she has never opened a Truworths account and wanted to open an identity theft case. But here we are, months later—it’s February, and this issue still isn’t resolved. Meanwhile, she’s trying to get a new car, but they are holding things up because they say she has bad credit due to the *****ulent Truworths account. So now, not only is she dealing with *****, but her life is on hold as well. She went to the branch in our town and there was nothing they continued to assist with besides the dispute purchase/account declaration form
