humiliating a transgender woman
hi there.. i am a transgender woman, and went to daniel hatcher truworths at fourways mall to try on a dress which i needed for a wedding. i found a beautiful one that i loved. but when i went to try it on i was questioned who was trying the dress on. when i said myself she confirmed that i was trying on a dress? and then when i said yes. she burst out laughing and then proceeded to shout across the store to the other staff that i a \bafana"was trying on a dress insiting laughter from all the staff... i loved the dress. but did not buy it as i was humiliated and embarrassed!!! this is extremely insensitive and i will NEVER step foot back into daniel hatcher truworths... and i will make sure people hear of this insensitive demeaner"""
At Truworths, we mandate our staff to always treat our customers in a professional and respectful manner. The conduct of the staff member mentioned in your post is completely deplorable and we have therefore escalated this matter to the manager of the store in question.
We were informed by the manager that she has addressed this matter with the staff member in question and will take the appropriate corrective action to ensure that this remains an isolated incident. Further to this, she will take this as an opportunity to remind all store staff of the importance of upholding our high service standards at all times.
We can assure you that this type of conduct is not at all accepted by us and we once again wish to convey our sincerest apologies for any frustration or upset that has been caused to you as a result of this matter.
