Harrased by Security
I’ve never been so harassed and embarrassed at the same time.
On sat 31/03/17 around 12 in the morning I was in town,Carlton centre with my sister shopping for a dress. Then we decided to go to truworths to look for shoes. I was holding my hand bag, we got in didn’t even spend 5min in the stupid shop cos there was nothing appealing, as we approached the door we got stopped by a MALE security guard who asked to search my bag. I looked at HIM in shocked and told him that he is not gnna search my bag unless he gets a female guard to that. We were told to wait cos apparently the lady who is supposed to be at the door is busy at the till, hold up…wait? for somebody who is apparently too busy to do her job? Fine we waited still the lady doesn’t come, now we are being inconvenienced and how our time is now being wasted not forgetting that my sister is heavily pregnant. After so much waiting we decide to leave without being searched as no one was willing to do so. As we are walking, the security guy comes running after us and grabs my bag as if I had ****** something which I didn’t, runs back to the shop with it and throws my bag on the floor breaking my cosmetics brushes in the process and not even a mere apology for that. Finally the soo called lady comes to the door as we are now shouting and exchanging words with the security guy, such an embarrassment and disrespect! Truworths Carlton Centre has no respect for their customer especially women, where on earth have you seen a guy searching a woman’s bag in this year and time? Is this how he treats his woman? This is soo unacceptable, disgusting and disrespectful. We demand an written apology from the manager as well as replacement for all my broken things. SOO DISGUSTED I SHALL NEVER SET FOOT IN THAT SHOP AGAIN.
We were truly concerned to read about the incident that occurred at our Truworths store as the service you have described is completely unacceptable. We immediately contacted the Store Manager of the store, to investigate this matter.
Whilst we acknowledge that all security guards are employed by an independent contractor to Truworths, they are mandated to uphold the service standards which we expect from all staff as well as our affiliates.
We can confirm that you have in the interim returned to the store, and that the Store Manager has addressed this matter with both you and the respective security guard you identified in store. To this end, you were also requested to return the damaged cosmetics brushes for assessment by the manager, and she advised that she is awaiting your return to the store with these.
We sincerely apologise to you for the manner in which you felt you were attended to at the store on that particular day, and trust that we were able to acceptably attend to your query.
