Harassment telephone call reminding me to pay

I have been a customer of Truworths for at least 35 YEARS. I have never NOT paid an instalment. I received a call at 10h30 today (12 May 2018) informing me that I had short-paid by R200 and the reason for my short-payment. I told the lady that my elderly father of 85 has vascular dementia and that my sister and I are taking care of him and our mother. She enquired if I would be paying the amount of R1 200 due and by when. I told her at the end of the month and never to call me again. My balance is owing is R2 000 NOT R2 MILLION. I thereafter told her never to call me again and that I would be closing my account. I am 57 years old and do NOT need to be reminded of payment of any of my accounts. It is an insult.

Thank you for your post.

We acknowledge your frustration regarding communication about the status of your Truworths account. However, when customers do not meet their payment commitments, additional charges are incurred. As a preventative measure various forms of communication are automatically generated as a reminder to bring your account up to date and ensure your credit record remains in good standard.

We regret that you felt that our collections process was in any way offensive, as it was certainly not our intention to cause you any unnecessary frustration.

Further to this, we confirm that your recent payment arrangement made, is currently reflecting on your account, and look forward to your account being brought up to date with payment soon.

We trust that we were able to adequately attend to your query. Should you require any further assistance, please feel free to contact us on *** or via email on ***.

Kind regards,

Truworths Online Team
