Handed Over without contact

To my surprise and great disappointment my Truworths account has been handed over to VVM attorneys. I am currently not employed and was going to make payment to my Truworths account end of this month (Feb 2018) to bring account back on track. I have never received a call from Truworths at all during this time to make an arrangement or to advise them of my problem. Now i receive very harsh threatening calls from VVM and would like to know how does a company just hand over an account without first contacting the customer for arrangement. This is a very rebellious way of doing business and ruining a persons credit rating. Surely the credit department are trained and understand the consumer laws and rights. I'd like my account to be retracted from VVM and would like to know by who and when this account was handed over and what was the comments, arrangements, points of contact made with myself prior to this hand over. (dates, times etc) Your urgent response will be greatly appreciated. Regards Ricardo

Thank you for your post and for the opportunity to clarify this matter for you.

According to our records this account was short paid at the last payment made on 20 December 2017. As a result, the account is reflecting in arrears, and communication regarding the status of your account was sent to you. Additional interest was also charged.

We can confirm that the account was not officially handed over to the attorneys, but that they are merely at present managing the account on our behalf.

We confirm that this was communicated to you. We trust that this response has adequately clarified this matter for you, and look forward to the account being brought up to date with payment soon.

Kind regards,

Truworths Online Team Kid

Good morning, Thank you for the reply, It's weird that I only received notification via sms yesterday and today after posting this on HelloPeter. I have a recorded call from VVM Attorneys where its clearly stated that the account IS handed over also in that recording is a threat that if i didnt pay by today I would be put onto ITC. Your sms says that my outstanding balance is due 3 March 2018. As stated in my initial complaint Truworths did not contact me for payment or to make arrangements and accounts should not be handed over to an EDC prior to this being done. I do have knowledge in this field and this does go against CPA law. This is not the way to deal with customers and a more professional approach should be exercised, RESPECT and actually understanding of real day to day issues consumers face should be part of training in order to keep companies such as yourselves from folding and getting a bad name. ( All it would've taken was a simple call with respect to understand the issue ) If VVM has been outsourced to deal with all arrears customers for Truworths they need to state that the account is in arrears and not that the account is handed over and that if payment is not made that same day or the next day that the customer will be put onto ITC... You have also avoided very important points in my initial complaint such as proof of contact prior to yesterday and today's sms that I received. Also I'd like my details removed from VVM attorneys system as per your response in black and white (My account is not officially handed over) I will no longer be taking harassing calls from them as their staff are extremely rude and unprofessional. Thank you
