Expired Gift Card - Truworths

I received a Truworths Gift Card for my birthday. Due to ill health I was not able to go out and use this gift card and then came Covid. Today when I went to use the gift card I was told that it is expired. The amount on the gift card is R650.00. I called Truworths customer care to find out if this gift card could be renewed and was just told NO. When I queried about what happens to the money, the agent told me that the money gets forfeited. Truworths should look into changing this ****ty policy given into account the pandemic that we had over the past 2 years.
