Exchanging a Gift
My husband received a T-shirt as a birthday present, unfortunately we did not receive a gift slip or the original proof of purchase. We tried to exchange the item at the Northgate branch, the cashier advise me that due to all the admin of manually checking the past month's till slips and the fact that I didn't have any proof of purchase he would not be able to assist me.

I understand process, but surely, if the item is a gift and the customer is not made aware of gift, there is no signage to advice customers on obtaining gift receipts there should be a way that I can return an unwanted item.

Other retails do exchange unwanted gifts without proof of purchase.
Thank you for your post and allowing us the opportunity to respond.
Whilst we acknowledge your frustration in this regard, we can confirm that you were correctly informed that a return could not be authorized without the required proof of purchase or gift receipt.
The gift receipt needs to be requested at the time of purchase in order to facilitate an easy return for the recipient. This being said, from time-to-time, stores may request additional information pertaining to the purchase in order to aid the gift recipient in locating the proof of purchase.
We wish to advise that our returns policy is in place to ensure that our customers can be assured that we go to great lengths to guarantee that the product they buy off our shelves has never been worn, is in a perfect condition at all times and remains current. As a result, we deem it vital that it is adhered to at all times.
We trust that you will be able to perceive and accept our stance in this regard.
Kind regards,
Lynn
