exchange refused even though size is wrong

My wife purchased 2 shirts at Truworths MAN at The Glen. Both shirts are the same style just different colours (burgundy and blue), and both as per label are size XL. I wore the burgundy one with no problems, but when I tried on the blue one it did not fit my unique physique, despite the blue shift being labelled as XL. Unfortunately, I tried the shirt on just after I came out of the shower and I app**** my roll on, which left white marks on the armpits of the shirt.

I went back to the store with both shirts to show them that the shirts are not the same size despite being labelled as XL, requesting that the blue shirt be changed for the correct size. Now I mentioned that I washed the burgundy one but the store supervisor just heard “washed" and tried to feel if I did something to the burgundy shift although the issue was not even with the burgundy one.

Eventually he gets to the blue shirt and I showed him it’s the wrong size but because of the roll on marks on the shirt, he refused to change the shirt stating that he cannot sell the item again. Now how to you resell an item that has the incorrect label on it, surely you will take this up with your supplier, as it is a manufacturing or labelling defect.

Now I have a shirt that I cannot wear as it is the wrong size and the only reason why the roll on got onto the shirt was that the size was too small. The supervisor refused to hear the wrong size and the misleading labels and just saw “ this is dirty and I can’t resell it”.

We lodged a complaint (***) with the head office but they also cannot seem to understand that the shirt does not have the correct label on it.

All we want it another size shirt or our money back.
