Exchange policy violated

I bought a shirt among other items in Menlyn mall at Trueworths on 7 October. Sat in a meeting and a lady behind me saw that he shirt was torn on the shoulder seam. Embarrising moment for me as this was a brand new shirt. On 14 October I took the shirt to Trueworths in Mall@reds to either be exchanged or refunded. The CASHIER noted the problem and willing to exchange. The three shirts hanging in their store, either had lipstick on (I took pictures) or the size wasn't available. Seeing that the cashier was polite I said that I would exchange for something else and pay in if needed to. The cashier called the supervisor that bluntly refuse to refund or exchange and told me I should take the shirt back to Menlyn where I bought it. I stay 40 km from Menlyn. Trueworths is suppose to be a chain store. I feel that the store could have taken the responsibility to sort this out in-house instead of losing a customer. Needles to say I will never buy from Trueworths again.
