Dissatisfied customer at Truworths, Greenstone Mall.
I was at the Truworths, Greenstone Mall on the 25th June 2020. I received a jacket as a gift, the jacket was small so I wanted to return it for a bigger size. I saw another jacket I liked and I was willing to pay a difference of R24. The cashier did the transaction and the difference was R24 and told me to insert my card into machine and I noticed that the transaction was showing approved on the machine however the cashier said that her till went offline and said that the transaction did not go through and I should go to the next till, immediately after the transaction was approved, I received a text from the bank that a transaction of R24 went through my account and I showed the transaction on my phone to the cashier but she insisted that it did not go through on her side and that it would be reversed so I had to pay another R24 at the next till point. I also purchased a ladies handbag worth R499. 99. The cashier told me that if the transaction is not reversed that I should bring in my bank statement. I went back to the store on the 3rd July 2020 and went to the same cashier that helped me on the 25th June 2020. The cashier recognized me and had a look at my statement and she and her supervisor went to the back to check. After about 45 minutes waiting they returned and the supervisor spoke to me and said that she could not resolve the issue and will log a complaint and contact me as soon as possible. For a mere R24, I felt upset, angry and it was so inconvenient for me to get to my bank for my statement and to get to Truworths wait for this issue to be resolved after having the evidence of my bank statement and showing them my sms on my phone of the transaction and still it could be sort out. Utterly disgusted. I am not the type of person to generally complain however I have been pushed to the point in which this issue has to be addressed. This complaint is not about the sum of money but rather the principle and way in which I was treated as a valued customer.
