Disgusting service

I visited your branch in Cavendish on 03/04/17. NOT A SINGLE STAFF MEMBER ON THE FLOOR to assist me. I even asked the security guard where the staff were. She gave me a blank stare and looked like someone who didn't know how human interaction works.

Eventually I ran into a lady (whom I wasn't sure was a staff member because no uniform or name tag to identify). When I complained that there was no-one to assist me, she gave me attitude with "I'm right here" (in a sarcastic tone). I didn't even have the energy to fight with her because I was already exhausted from walking the floor, looking for someone to help me.

I wanted a dress that was on the mannequin (and one on the floor) but they didn't have my size. I was told that there's one at Tyger Valley. I asked if they could do an inter store transfer but was told they can only do a "fashion delivery" (Truworths jargon - and had no idea what this meant) if I had an account. With ****py service like this, who would want an account?

On Monday I called Tyger Valley and they said they don't have stock and that Cavendish staff's systems weren't updated, hence the information didn't match. And that the dress was not available in the whole of the Western Cape.

I called N1 City (because thsi branch is close to where I work). The staff there didn't even know what I was talking about after I gave them the style and type no.

I called Blue Route and spoke to Nathan Smith (who was the first person who actually knew what customer service is). I told him about the dress and he informed me that if a dress is on a mannequin, it's usually still new stock and that he will check if they got it (they were doing stock take on that day).

That same evening I went back to Cavendish to take a pic of the dress (because I wanted to show a friend), then got told by Zohrah that I'm not allowed to take pics. I told her that I am trying to source the dress on my own because I got absolutely no help from anyone I spoke to at 3 different branches.

She then attempted to help me but insisted that I open an account as they will only do the "fashion delivery" (again - no-one ever explained to me what this means) if I had an account. I refused to open an account and she said it cannot work any other way, and that this will be the quickest way (TWO weeks) for me to get the dress.

I was so desperate to get the dress, that I agreed to open the account (with the intention to close it again once I had the dress).

The next day Nathan called me back (as promised) and informed me that he was able to source the dress for me in two different sizes from two different stores (outside of the Western Cape) and that he will arrange for them to be sent to the Blue Route branch, so that I can collect it from there.

I told Nathan about the rule of opening an account that was practically forced upon me but he said he would have this done for me without me having to open an account, because of the poor service and invconvenience I've been caused.

I then called Zohrah to say she should stop my application for the account. She immediately told me that the application already went through the night before. I told her to stop it. She called back to say she spoke to the Accounts department and they confirmed that the application didn't go through.

Minutes later I received an SMS notification congratulating me on the approval of my Truworths account, literally minutes after I was ensured that the application didn't go through.

She also had the nerve to ask me "what about the dress?" I told her I wasn't interested anymore.

On Friday 10th March, Nathan called me to say the dresses arrived at the Blue Route branch and that I could come and try on the suitable size. He also said that he would add an extra day for me to collect, just in case I don't make it for the Saturday. I was extremely pleased with the service received from Nathan Smith. He went out of his way to deliver on his promises and the managers at Cavendish can learn a thing or two from him.

I contacted Rushana Londt (Nathan's manager) to let her know how impressed I was with Nathan's service. And I wish to put on record that he has been phenomenal.

Everything else that led up to the experience with Nathan, has been horrible. The staff have been completely useless and if I can help it, I will never shop at Truworths again. Perhaps just the Blue Route branch because of Nathan. My visit to the store was pleasant and hassle free and I finally got the dress I so badly wanted but had to pull teeth to obtain in the first place.

I also tweeted about my dissatisfaction and whoever manages your Social Media forum, took more than a week to attempt to contact me, when my problem was already resolved. I don't see the point of them wanting to make contact with me at this point in time, when the damage has already been done.

This was the most horrible experience I have ever had to endure in the retail space.
