Disappointing experience at Truworths Eastgate

I had a very disappointing experience at the Truworths Eastgate branch.

I visited the store with my 12-year-old daughter, and when I wanted to use the fitting room, I was told that she was not allowed to go in with me. I found this completely unreasonable, as she is still a minor, and I was not comfortable leaving her outside alone while I changed.

What made the situation even more frustrating is that I didn’t even get the chance to try anything on because of this. The whole experience made me feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome that we simply left the store.

I understand that stores may have rules, but there should also be common sense and consideration for parents shopping with children. Expecting a parent to leave their child outside a fitting room is not practical and does not create a good customer experience.

I would like to know:

Is this really Truworths’ official policy?

Why would a 12-year-old child not be allowed to accompany her parent into a fitting room?

What are parents supposed to do in this situation?

This experience was unnecessary, upsetting, and very disappointing. I hope Truworths will seriously review this policy and how it is enforced in-store.
