Collection Harassment

At the beginning of August I made arrangements over the phone with collections that the instalment of R420.00 as stated in my statement would be settled on the last weekend of August, I was assured this phone call was recorded for security reasons
Every day since this phone call I have received up to 5 calls per day asking for payment, some of these calls I have avoided and others I have begged and pleaded for the call centre agent to please save the note that the instalment would be settled BEFORE the end of the month.

A payment of R500 was made against the account on the 28th of August, proof of payment was forwarded to collections, head office and customer services and while the money needed time to clear I accepted that I would still receive calls, 8am on a Sunday?? However after receiving yet another statement requesting the R420 instalment on the 30th of August as well as the continuing calls to my mobile as well as office, I do not comprehend how in the space of a few days you request an amount, a larger amount is paid, you ACKNOWLEDGE the payment and I am STILL receiving numerous calls a day?

What is the point in making arrangements for payment when the recordings are deleted that very day?

What is the point in acknowledging a payment when your call centre is not told and point blank refuses to make a note?

I will be closing this account after 17 years Truworths, and for what? R500? Appalling harassment!

Thank you for your post and allowing us the opportunity to respond.

We have reviewed your account and established it is currently being handled by Blake and Associates, who does collections on our behalf. Whilst we acknowledge your frustration, we send out arrears communication with the intention of informing customers on the status of their accounts and also to allow the opportunity for a suitable payment arrangement to be made.

We confirm and thank you for your payment of R500.00 received however as this payment was made via Electronic Funds Transfer (eft) it only reflected on your account on 31 August 2016.

This being said, the full arrears due has not been settled for your account as such further communications were generated to inform you of this.

We confirm that whilst you indicated during the collections calls that you would make payment, no formal arrangement was made indicating the amount and when payment would be received.

We kindly urge you to make a suitable payment arrangement and look forward to your account being brought up to date with payment. We trust that we were able to clarify your concerns with our response and hope that you will reconsider your decision to close your account with us.

Please feel free to contact us on *** or via email on ***.

Kind regards,

Truworths Online Team
