Closed account but handed over for Club Magazine
I closed my Truworths Account in 2011/2012. I am now receiving calls from attorneys that I was handed over. After investigating, they found out that my account was in fact closed but I was handed over for a club magazine that I did not sign up for, or better yet ever receive a magazine. I was not called by Truworths once before to let me know I was being handed over.

Thank you for your post and for the opportunity to clarify this matter for you.
According to our records this account was never closed as an account cannot be closed when it has a balance remaining. After the last payment of R300.00 made in May 2011, the balance owing on your account was R170.00. As this amount was not paid, additional interest was charged, and thus the current balance is R R778.31.
Monthly communication regarding the status of your account was sent to you, and in October 2014 you acknowledged the amount owing and made a payment arrangement with us. You however, did not honour this payment commitment.
Be advised that Truworths does not have a club magazine, and we are concerned that you have been given this information. We can assure you that the balance owing is purely as a result of interest added to the outstanding balance.
The external collections agency who is administering the account on our behalf is ADRS. We advise you to contact them directly on ***, to make payment arrangements for the balance owing on your account.
