cellphone drama

I purchased a BlackBerry z3 cellphone mtn network prepaid, and the phone had a technical fault every time I access new messages received the screen jumps before opening the text, more like a blinking 3 or four times,I went to the store where I purchase my cellphone because I was just not impressed with what I was experiencing with a brand new phone. The consultant advised me to go to mtn for a software updated and monitors the error after the update was installed.I experienced the same fault and took the phone back to the truworths store in pavilion as it was barely 7 days old, they then start giving me long stories that they need to send the z3 in to mtn which could take up to 3 weeks,I'm so disheartened at this point in time and I'm just not impressed with the service delivery, clearly this is a manufacturing fault, now I'm left without a phone but have to pay the installment whilst awaiting for feedback from truworths pavilion. Please be vigilant when purchasing prepaid cellphones. The stores and network providers look for loop holes not to refund consumers. I'm mad as hell and need answers

Thank you for your post.

Cellphone returns are subject to the terms and conditions of the service provider, in this case being MTN.

In line with MTN’s Terms and Conditions it is only in the event where the device has a manufacturing defect and this is reported and identified within the first 7 days from the date of purchase, that the complete unit with the box, the accessories and the packaging can be returned for a possible exchange on the same model or a refund subject to the device being assessed at a MTN Service and Repair Centre. You were therefore correctly informed on the day of your return to our store that an exchange or refund could not be authorized as the handset needed to be sent to MTN to be assessed.

We have liaised with the relevant store manager and she informed us that the handset was returned to the store on 10 June 2016. MTN conducted a software upgrade and the problem on the handset was fixed. We believe that you have subsequently collected the handset from the store.

We trust that we were able to clarify your concerns in this regard. Should you have any further enquiries, please feel free to contact us on 021- ********** or via email on **********

Kind regards,
