Baseless accusation to refuse refund
On 7.2.2019, I purchased items from Truworths West street, ,DBN, around 17h00, fitting rooms were closed thus did not try them. On 18.2.2019 I returned 2/3 of items bought with documents/dockets intact. They spent time scrutinising items in and out which was not a problem anyway and did not stress, then supervisor was called to override, she also did the same and eventually claimed that a dark navy skirt has stains, I asked to be shown the stains and I rubbed the skirt and the what appeared to be stain disappeared then asked for another stain she then took the skirt away and went to "staff only zone" claiming to be consulting with her manager, being puzzled by imp**** accusation of returning item not in good order meanwhile it was not a fact, her act of not calling manager to address the problem instead walking away with "questionable skirt" puzzled me, I then followed her and was ordered to wait outside "staff only zone" on her return she did not even bother to explain the outcome of her consultation about the condition of the item instead she asked me if I had found something else for exchange, I had not uttered even a word about exchange since I had presented items for refund, as was confused as what kind of question is that after such drama, she continued asking if I do not want to get something else to exchange the returns, it then dwells in me that intention of bringing baseless accusation regarding stains was just an act of discouraging me to return the items, how dare Truworths staff plays with customer's emotion in order to retain their sales figures. As was observing, following the whole thing that occurred, there is no consistency in their processes, it is crucial for items to be scrutinised in and out even on sale date one by one, scrutinise every return by every customer in the same manner by attendees including supervisors, treat each customer equally irrespective of race/gender . Do not build up stories which are baseless just twisting customer's mind and emotions for your own benefit. If problem arise with item brought by customer , do not move away with item especially returns , call floor manager in front of the customer and address issue at hand. If floor manager is unable to come with customer and present your case in customer's presence. What worries me is that the branch is mainly dominated mostly by less privileged people not able to express their concerns or ill treatment or not knowing where to report or scared of "manager". I wonder how many customers are turned down daily or made to feel guilty for returning items after they have tried them once not even stepped out wearing the item or even end up forced to exchange instead of getting credit or refund due to them. I was asked if I have worn the skirt, for cyring out loud , how I would have noted that the skirt styles do not suit me without putting them on "yes I tried the skirts , worn them" did not even step out my bedroom wearing any of them. Please do not strip customer's dignity unnecessarily.
