Barcoding policy
Yesterday I went to one of the Truworths store in Carlton Centre the is a promotion that is running in the store I saw a skirt with the price of R40 and when I was approaching the till I was told that they won’t sell it at that price I even took the picture of the item.I have the account with them for years and the service that i gots from the Manager was not very bad.Barcoding policy was not practice.

We appreciate you alerting us regarding the error on the price displayed for the skirt in-store. Since the price on the sticker of R40.00 for the skirt is both an obvious and inadvertent error, we regret that we are not able to sell the garment to you at that price as this was a human error.
We can confirm that the skirt was supposed to be marked down to R575.00.
In this regard, we confirm that Section 23 (9) of the Consumer Protection Act provides that if a price as displayed contains an “inadvertent and obvious error”, the store is not bound by such incorrect price if it takes steps to correct the error and inform the customer of the error and the correct price. The moment we were made aware of the error we rectified the price. We do however wish to apologize for the manner in which you felt the Management attended to you on the day and hope that on your next visit we can meet or exceed your expectations.
