Appalling service at Truworths Tzaneen

On the afternoon of Saturday, 4 April; my cousin and I entered Truworths in Tzaneen with the hope of finding outfits for an event wee were attending that night. It was around 13h55 when we walked in. We walked around and I managed to find two possible outfits that I wanted to try on before purchasing, I then went to the fitting room and asked to be assisted but the attendant that was stationed there told me that I can no longer use the fitting room as the shop had closed at 14h00, this was at around 14h02, I proceeded to ask for the manager.

I then walked over to the paypoint and asked to speak to the manager and was told that Patience Hlangwinini was in charge, I then approached her and relayed my frustration and again asked to be allowed to fit the outfits and she declined, I then asked her why I couldn’t use the fitting room as there were still other customers in the shop and I did not need assistance, she said those were the rules that when the shop doors close the fitting room can no longer be used. I was highly frustrated and proceeded to say that it’s not like Truworths is a restaurant and I’m ordering a meal after the kitchen has closed and that the fitting room is a fixed structure and that I just want to see what the outfits will look like before purchasing them. She continues to say no so I got mad and walked away telling her that I will write to head office as the service at the shop was disgusting. And the fitting room attendant continued to shout out that every house has it’s rules and that those where the rules in their house. I threw the clothes on the floor and asked the security to open the doors for me, another shop attendance Nkwashu, said that I could fit on the outfits but I refused because I was livid at this point.

I hope this matter will be addressed promptly and decisively, I have worked in the service industry for mor than 20 years and get appalled at unsavoury customer service. I work hard for my money and refuse to be treated in this manner by someone who gets paid because I decide to spend my money at Truworths.
