Amazing customer service

I rarely use HP for anything except complaining, But in this case felt I had to give a compliment.

So I'm not a suit guy. I'm fortunate enough to have a job that allows me to wear hoodies in winter and my star wars t's in summer. But I had an important event and needed a really good but affordable suit. I'm standing there in Truworths staring at these rows of suits and I have no idea what to go for. A Lovely lady named Hlengiwe saw me and was extremely helpful. We tried different sizes until we came to one where she stamped her seal of approval, and even arranged that I can go collect the jacket colour at a different branch because Northgate didnt have a size for me. That was yesterday at around 4pm.

Today I arrive at the store at 5:45 and it closes in 15 minutes. Now if you have ever entered a shop close to closing time you know how peeved off the staff is. But no, Hlengiwe saw me and was as cheery and as helpful as the previous day. Silly me I had forgotten to buy pants. I had my daughter with me but needed to go to the fitting room. Hlengiwe kindly offered to watch her for me while I tried on some pants which made me realise I really need to go back to the gym.

I personally feel like the sales person- customer relationship dynamic has been lost in this country. I've been abroad a few times and no matter the shop you're in, they assist you wholeheartedly. In SA, unless you're at a very high-end store, the people on the ground usually pay no attention to you and if you do ask for help you either get irritation or indifferencw. What a breath of fresh air it was to have someone assist me as though I was there to drop 10k on a t-shirt. You need to retain people like that because that's what brings people back
