Account management
I wrote a report about Truworths just last week and reported that subsequent to settling my account I would be closing it. In my attempt to close my account,I was informed that first I'd have to provide some letter from Hollard because of insurance. I don't recall taking out insurance with Hollard for my account and would therefore not have an insurance policy number. <br> At the very least I would have thought I would have control over the management of my account, however as proven today I don't even have that power. I'm shocked that Truworths insist on an account holder to have this insurance and must open it in your name because I don't recall phoning Hollard and yet when one wants to close the account I must phone Hollard and do the admin.

In line with our credit agreement, Truworths may at its discretion make the Account Balance Protection Insurance a mandatory condition of having a Truworths Account.
Having said this, the service described in your post is not in line our high service standards we strive to offer customers and as such we brought this matter to the attention relevant Management team, to reiterate the importance of providing our customers with factual information.
We regret that you have decided to close your account. Your patronage is important to us and we hope that we can continue the relationship that we have established by retaining you as a cash customer. We confirm that the Insurance has been cancelled and your account closed. A letter will systematically be sent to you within 3 working days.
