Unacceptable Service

My child is in 10th grade was in Knowledge Centre. They decided, with a 2 week notice, that they are going to close and we must hurry up and decide, in June, where we are going to send our children. The so called lollipop was that fees will stay the same.

Now without any negotiations, they let us know that the fees increased with R520 pm for transport. A one-sided adjustment.

On top of this, the centre is run by 3 girls with absolutely no technical background. The impact of that is that my son now needs additional tutors for mathematics, IT and Engineering Design.

It seems that the reality of the world is now that I must become mediocre to accept mediocre teaching centre's.

Thank you for your review. We do, however, feel it necessary to correct several statements and provide important context.

Tripoint Academy was not responsible for the closure of Knowledge Centre or the notice period provided to parents. Tripoint was established independently following its closure to provide continuity for learners and families who wished to continue with us.

The R520 referred to is also not an increase in academic centre fees. It is a separate contribution towards transport, a service your child has been making use of. Academic fees have remained as communicated.

Regarding the statement that your son now requires additional tutoring in Mathematics, IT and Engineering Graphics & Design as a result of Tripoint’s alleged lack of “technical background”: these concerns have never been raised with Tripoint Academy or our tutors.

We find it particularly disappointing that concerns of this nature were published publicly before we were given an opportunity to discuss them, assess the learner’s difficulties, or put additional academic support in place. Had these concerns been brought to our attention, we would have addressed them—as we do whenever a parent raises a concern regarding their child’s progress.

We also strongly reject the description of our team as “3 girls with absolutely no technical background.” Our tutors have their respective subject responsibilities, and reducing their competence to such a statement is both unfair and an inaccurate representation of the service being provided.

We welcome constructive criticism and take the academic progress of our learners seriously. However, criticism must also be based on accurate information and concerns should ideally be raised with us so that we are actually given the opportunity to resolve them.

We remain available to discuss these concerns directly and professionally.
