False Advertising and Failure to Process Refund
We booked a place advertised as a home which accommodates 20 for our wedding party. We went to see the place before the wedding and the owner had a different setup from what was advertised. She had a one-bedroom apartment filled with 6 beds and claimed she charged per bed and a person can book one bed on Trip Advisor Rentals. We then expressed that that would never work but she insisted. She also then said she charged R600 per bed. Note we had paid R1,400 for three people including the booking fee, mathematically that's still not even close!
I sent an email to this effect and the owner confirmed that we did not stay at her property. Naturally she claimed her own ficticious stories, but the fact of the matter is that we did not stay there. Upon asking for my refund the owner said it's not her issue and to deal with Trip Advisor Rentals directly. I have been getting emails from a different person with each response from the Trip Advisor Rentals people ********** ) and am still yet to get a definitive answer.
It has been three weeks since the last email from them confirming that we didn't stay at the venue, and an additional 4 weeks since the cancelled stay.
I do NOT recommend dealing with them unless you are sure of the place you want to rent, but they don't have a verification process and there is nobody to assist in the event that things are not as they are advertised on their site. In such instances it becomes your ultimate headache.
