unprofessional business practice

Dear Hellopeter
I purchased a flexi-ticket to the USA in December 2014, on the return journey in Oct 2015 the connecting airline cancelled the connecting flight. The option given to me by Travelstart was :- Either pay for the change in the flight or an overnight stay at a hotel both would be for my account. I was forced to opt for the overnight stay as it was cheaper than the change in ticket. I had not budgeted for additional costs.
I would like to establish why Travelstart did not honor my flexi-ticket.

After much liaison with Travelstart to acknowledge and take responsibility for their misleading advertising and unprofessional business practice in my instance,
I trust that with your assistance I can finally put my unfortunate and financial embarrassing experience to conclusion.

Thank you
Carol kalivitis

Hello travelstart,

Thank you for your feedback.

I do regret the frustrations you experienced with regards to the schedule change done by the airline. When the airlines do schedule changes they provide options to travel either a day prior or a day after the originally booked flights. In this case the airlines new timetable necessitated an overnight stay. The airline indicated that they would not accept liability for any additional costs such as accomodation. This could however be claimed from travel insurance, if applicable.

The flexi ticket option allows our clients one free change, provided the rebooking is in the same booking class. Your husband and yourself conveyed that these options provided by the airline would not be suitable and requested to change to travel 10 -14 days earlier. Our colleagues provided the quote, keeping the Flexi ticket option in mind when doing so. However, all the new flight options would come with an overnight option. The best quote provided had an additional amount. This was for fare and tax differences as per the flexi-option terms and conditions.

The flexi-product does not allow changes to another airline but applies to the existing ticketed airline.
